Ardbeg Ten Islay Single Malt – whisky review

Ardbeg 10

Ardbeg Ten

There’s a tasting of one of my favourite whiskies tonight. When I tried the Ardbeg Ten for the first time, it totally knocked me out …

Ardbeg 10

Ardbeg Ten

Ardbeg means „Small Height”

Scotch Single Malt

Region: Islay

10 years

46% ABV

Heavily peated 55 PPM

Matured in ex-Bourbon casks

Non chill-filtered

Color: amber -2, without the addition of caramel

Tasting notes

Nose: vanilla, smoked prunes, smoke, wood, wet sand on the beach, forest air, raisins, dried figs, butterscotch. 22/25

Palate: prunes, smoke, sea breeze, barley malt, lime, avocado, scorched wood, milk chocolate, whipped cream, a bit of citrus … the Masterclass. 22/25

Finish: pleasant and very long. Mango, smoke, honey, prunes, vanilla. 22/25

Balance: fantastic Whisky. The highest level from the start, to the finish, the length of which we feel due to the fact that it is unchill-filtered, it carries an age statement (i.e. no too young ingredients) and the good quality casks have been used. It’s superbly balanced. 21/25

Overall: 87 / 100

Other reviews:

Murray (2017): 97/100

whiskyfun (2018): 90/100

Ralfy (2017): 90/100

Price: in Poland, the lowest price I have seen is PLN 190. In Germany, in the Edeka store, you can have it for 43,50 € in a permanent offer. On whic.de it is sometimes in the promotion for 40 €. This Whisky is worth much more.

I wrote that when I tried this Whisky for the first time, it knocked me out … the same thing happened by the second time … and the third … and it does the same until now. I highly recommend it.

It’s FANTASTIC!
