Maker’s Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky – review

Maker’s Mark

Kentucky Straight Bourbon WHISKY. Interestingly, Maker’s Mark does not use the name WhiskEY, typical of the American Bourbon.

Ageing time: minimum 4 years

45% ABV

Mash Bill: 70% corn, 16% red winter wheat, 14% malted barley

Color: amber +2, with copper sheen

Tasting notes

Nose: ripe bananas and pears, wood, corn, vanilla ice cream, butterscotch, anise. A bit richer than a typical Bourbon, but quite alcoholic. Besides, pleasant. 21.5 / 25

Palate: maple syrup, cloves, caramel, thyme, espresso, dried apricots. 22/25

Finish: vanilla, wood, hay, ginger, stewed apples. Short but not bad for a Bourbon. 20/25

Balance: quite rich Whisky. Deep, intense taste and smell. Good quality. A long way from low-quality American Whiskeys. 23/25

Overall: 86.5 / 100

I come back to this whisky with pleasure. I like it. It’s pretty similar to Wild Turkey 101, but Maker’s Mark seems to be a bit more complex.

Price: from about PLN 100 (25-30$, €)

Good quality to price ratio. recommend
